    a new verbal offering
    ELEVEN

If I could have just one ambition in life
    It would be to be
    Eleven again

When I was eleven things were so much more simple
    My brain did the thinking
    My cock did the pissing
That is what they were there for and I liked it that way

I could engage in grown up conversation
Without all the pressures of the grown up world
I could make my own decisions
Without having to face the consequences
If I didn’t see them through

I don’t know much more now
    Than I did then
    But still I could enjoy
    The bliss without the ignorance

Only children can have a childhood
And only adults can commit adultery
I don’t want to commit to anything
I just want to be eleven.

    further
    hello
I was really delighted to see the replies to my message. I'm aware that the first couple were quite defensive, but they didn't need to be, as I wasn't particularly having a go at either of you. I have no problem at all with how Louise has handled her lj regarding her split. I deliberately didn't want to mention any names in my message. my problem was more with the people who didn't know the situation at all but then went and offered their judgement on it anyway.
as it happens, MOWH hasn't bitched to me at all. he's been the same post split as pre split really, ie not talking about it. I'm actually quite neutral on the whole thing. 2 good people who have upset each other in a most unfortunate way, that's all it is to me. hopefully I can retain a friendship with both parties if possible.
anyway, my objection is only to ill thought out angst. well constructed angst is a wonderful thing. I should know, I'm trying to make a career out of it!

+ Aidan, I did actually look out for you at Scritti, just on the off chance. I thought of texting you but there's no reception down there. will have to do the Liverpool OMD thing though.

    Live journal
hi there. I thought I'd write a post on here, questioning the existence of live journal really. this may get a bit philosophical. see, I thought it was here so that people could write anecdotes of things that have happened to them recently/ that day (depending how often they go on here, in my case, not very!), good or bad, that may be of entertainment to those on their friends list.
what I am actually seeing is friendships and relationships being ruined (and I'm not exaggerating) as people use it to write ill thought out angst without considering the consequences to those reading, and those not reading. what inevitably happens is that the 'friends' of those writing will consider this person's words as the gospel truth (I use the term loosely, not being an avid follower of the gospels myself!), and sycophantically agree with everything they say. I see examples of people agreeing that someone that they've never met is a scumbag because the person on their lj said so, so it must be true. this works especially well if said person they've never met doesn't have their own live journal, so their view is not represented, and is therefore wrong, or worse, irrelevant.
of course, these thoughts have in part been prompted by a recent unfortunate event which most of you who might be taking the time to read this (thanks!) will be aware of, but it goes beyond that.
In my very first post on here (and there haven't been that many) I mentioned that I keep a real diary with paper and a pen. If ever I have stuff that I need to get off my chest and there is no one I can talk to, I can use that to let off steam, knowing that the only person who could be upset by it is myself when I come to read it again in later life.
people seem to use this board to make judgements on situations and lives they know next to nothing about. I'd just like it to be remembered that these are real people with real lives on here, it's not just a computer.
I don't want to be seen as preachy, I don't want to be seen as critical, I just want people to think. that is all :)
in happier news, I met Green Gartside on Monday. he's one of my heroes. I don't have many heroes, we should be our own heroes really, but he's wonderful and I am still buzzing.

    que? stionairrrre
I don't like telling people about my life so I don't write on here much. I see other people are doing this questionnaire that's going around. usually when people send me these things I only reply to the person who sent it to me, I'm not one of those people who hits 'reply all' so that people I've never met & never will but have a vaguely mutual 'friend' know what colour socks I'm wearing (black). sometimes I send myself a copy if I think my replies are witty enough.

    1. What does your Livejournal name mean?
I use glamicon for many things. it originated back in 1999, I was playing the computer game 'Worms' with some friends. I came up with a team called 'Glam Icons' consisting of Phil Oakey, Nicky Wire, Nick Rhodes and David Bowie. Unfortunately the game only allowed 8 characters for the team name, so it got shortened to 'glamicon' which I quite liked.

    2. Elaborate on your default photo?
me. kinda stretched. I'm not very good at downsizing photos. it's actually unposed, it was taken by someone at Rockworld taking pics of HARM people on Freshers' Week for the website.

    3. Make up a question.
who put the bomp in the bompbebompbebomp?

    4. What's your current relationship status?
    a woman in every port

    5. What EXACTLY are you wearing right now?
a black Van Halen tshirt, blue jeans, boxer shorts & you already know what colour socks I have on!

    6. What is your current problem?
not enough hours in the day

    7. What do you love most?
    uninterrupted sleep

    8. What makes you most happy?
    being onstage

    9. Are you musically inclined?
    should hope so

    10. If you could go back in time, and change something, what would you change?
so many things, I'd not want to single anything out in case that thing happening started a chain of events which ultimately ended in good and undoing it would break the chain or something.

    11. If you MUST be an animal for ONE day, what would you be?
    a trapdoor spider

    12. Ever have a near death experience?
not yet. a band called Near Death Experience used to use the same rehearsal rooms as a band I was in. does that count?

    13. Name an obvious quality you have.
    pop trivia man

    14. What's the name of the song that's stuck in your head right now?
just had a Narcissus rehearsal so probably a medley of our songs

    15. Who did you cut and paste this from?
uglybuffy, but I was equally inspired by Sharde and his heartfelt responses

    16. Name someone with the same birthday as you.
    Richie Blackmore

    17. Have you ever vandalized someone's private property?
    yes, see 'Angry Young Man'

    18. Have you ever been in a fight?
not since school. being the 'angry young man' that I am I would probably beat anyone who doesn't know martial arts. however, anyone who does know martial arts would be able to turn my agression against me and thus make a fool out of me. if you are considering fighting me, please let me know your martial status in advance so I can fight back or run away like a girl accordingly.

    19. Have you ever sung in front of a large audience?
    yes. want larger audiences though

    20. What is the first thing you notice about the opposite sex?
    hair probably

    21. What do you usually order from Starbucks?
coffee, every 5 years or so. I prefer Cafe Nerd

    24. Has anyone ever said you looked like a celebrity?
I was once compared to Antonio Banderas and Jennifer Lopez on the same week.

    25. Do you still watch kiddy movies or TV shows?
sometimes. I went through a phase last year of buying DVDs of my favourite shows from when I was a kid.

    26. Did you have braces?
    Rock on Tommy. no.

    27. Are you comfortable with your height?
Yes, I'm just below average height for a male, which means I'm not ludicrously tall when I crossdress. I'm tall enough to see what I want at gigs and short enough not to get in people's way.

    28. What is the most romantic thing someone has ever done for you?
the fact that I can't think of anything off the top of my head depresses me. I prefer the little daily romantic things to grand gestures anyway. grand gestures generally exist to make up for a lack of little daily romantic things.

    29. Do you speak any other languages?
I'm becoming increasingly fluent in Emily language

    30. Do you have a crush on someone on your livejournal?
no. would I tell you if I did? maybe.

    sexuality quiz thing
nicked off [info]kankurette nicked off [info]
    Mostly Straight
You scored 37 (-52 being completely gay, 0 being bisexual, and 52 being completely straight)
You are mainly heterosexual, but you have a few homosexual qualities. You much prefer the opposite sex, but you have a mild interest in the same sex. If you disapprove of homosexuality, it is likely that you act overly straight to deny your slight gay tendencies. If you are comfortable with your sexuality, you might be up for experimenting with members of the same sex if given the opportunity. If you are sexually inexperienced, you could shift on the spectrum at a later time depending on whether you have sexual encounters with the same sex and whether or not you like those encounters.

My test tracked 1 variable How you compared to other people your age and gender:

free online dating free online dating
You scored higher than 50% on Orientation

    well, that settles that then
didn't pick up on my heterocampness though. must be the tone of voice that I answered the questions in.

Ok, for the interest of [info]nardglach and probably nobody else, here's why it took me so long to get a livejournal sorted. I only wanted the name 'glamicon'. No point having anything else. when I checked the availabilty of said name, I saw that someone had had it but the account was to be deleted within 30 days for whatever reason. About 6 weeks later it was still saying this.
eventually it just said 'deleted' though I still wasn't able to use the name.
by reading the FAQ section on the site, however, I later realised that a defunt name could be used though an account would have to be set up in another name and then changed, which would cost US$ 15. I decided this was worth it. so for about 3 minutes, this Live journal was actually in the name _glamicon_
I suppose I could have come up with something more amusing for such a short period of time like Schweinsteiger or Turdburglar, but _glamicon_ it temporarily was.
In slightly less boring news, I'm off to Hyde Park to see REM tomorrow, then to Paris on Monday for a few days. hurrah!
I love REM, I think this will be the 7th time of seeing them.

    welcome
    hi there
welcome to the first and possibly the last entry into my live journal. many people start these things with the intention of keeping a fascinating online document of their life for all to read if interested. I have no such grand designs. I'll most likely be making a few token posts here & there about such things that interest me and might not interest you. I keep a real diary anyway so all the juicy personal stuff would be in that if I had any juicy personal stuff to write about.
hopefully this online journal will at least show a level of proficiency in terms of spelling and grammar which will doubtless be of small consolation to those expecting juicy titbits.
    tarra for now.
